Get Real People!

The other day I received not one but 2 requests from a woman that had a problem with her dog...collapsed trachea etc.... She spent 45 minutes discussing the herbs, ordering the herbs and then she had us OVERNIGHT air...all this is alot of work and energy. she had special circumstances and we formulated just for her dog....

Then, the next day I get two pertty insulting a messages that she wants to return them because her group has told her the PawHealer herbs cause side effects and don't work that well. Here is the first one...says that our products have reactions;

advice
Body: Hi Holly Now you won't like this. I spoke to a few people who used your products and had reactions. The problem was for trachea collapse. I feel very uncomfortable using them now. Can I please return them when I receive them?

Here is the second one now they don't work!

return information
Hi, I have not received my order as of today but I would like to request return information from you. I belong to a few support groups and they have used your products without positive results. I feel unsure of using your products now.

I was startled to receive such a message...

My thoughts are this;

1. Shouldn't you have consulted with this group BEFORE ordering? (if there is such a group that is giving us a bad name...)

2. Lets talk about side effects...hello....of course any herbs can cause side effects, each person and each dog are different...food can cause side effects! There is no one in the world that should say that herbs do not have the potential to cause an adverse reaction..HOWEVER in the very vast majority of pets that take herbal remedies this does not occur...AND IF IT DOES....within 6 hours of taking the herbs the symptoms will usually recede. This is the same for people...no different.

Hello people....if you are so afraid of side effect of herbs...then why in the hell do you medicate your dogs to the point of almost death? Don't you think that steroids, inhalers, narcotics to stop cough, multiple vaccinations, monthly flea control all are over dosing your pet?

This just about drives me nuts...How can people call me and discuss side effects when the very reason that they are calling me is usually from the side effects of multiple medications...OMG....Lord Help Me!

3. Lets talk about what works and what does not work...Once again there IS NO SURE THING!!!

But look at our blog...those are just a fraction of the people that have used our coughing formulas? So who are her people and who are these support groups? So she has people that say it didn't work...Well Lady I have people who say it work! geeze....how odd this whole thing was.

Hello people...how can you expect herbs to be any different than modern medicines? We do the best we can...we learn what works for the majority...however yes people sometimes it will not work...IF EVERYTHING Worked all the time we would live forever..

I can tell you this...herbs do have a great efficiency rate, but they are not a magic bullet....they take work and effort, they are more difficult to use than modern medicines...

But yes people in cases where modern medicine has not been able to help, herbs can be an adjunct to your current regime and work better! Or they can't help at all...Plain and simple...

My question is to you people..why do you expect so much more from herbal remedies than from what you get from modern medicine.

Lighten up....don't be afraid...its always worth a try....My suggestion for those who are fearful, use herbs in concert with your veterinarian. Explain to them that you would like to try herbals, and have them monitor your pet right along side with you.

The Human Condition

I work with people and I work with pets. Happily I get ready to sit for the national boards by this February as my career begins to take shape. It's all about me getting in the study mode.....I love the direction I have taken, I love working with pets and yes....even people.

But there is a frustrating element when working with herbs....and that's our overall mentality which comes from the culture of the past 50 years...This is the expectation that if we take one single pill we can then fix everything.

With herbs...sometimes one single formula can indeed work....and in other instances it may take a couple of tries at getting it to change the condition. But when sitting back and thinking about it is can we really say that it is really any difference than western medicine?

Not really.

Every day I work with so many people in which the dog has not been responding to western drug therapy. This is because either the drug just does not work, or the pet has become resistant to the medication.

And for some reason people give a lot more allowance if you will, to western pharmaceuticals...this can be confirmed by the gigantic veterinarian bills that I hear that people have paid.

By the time people have found me...they want ONE formula to work God Damn It.

Or I have scammed them, yes name calling is a regular occurrence, even if I offer to give them a FREE second formula....that just sucks...can you imagine?

It's okay, because 90% of the time we do benefit the pet and they improve at least 50% and everybody is happy as the pet finds it's way back to good health.

But I can't help but feel discouraged sometimes....Mostly at the current human condition.

I don't understand why people can't see that too many drugs can actually hurt their pet...not to mention themselves....people take way too many prescriptions and its spilling over to our animals. It seems to me that no one is holding our doctors or our veterinarians responsible for this state of affairs.

The other day while at my acupuncture clinic, I was treating a man that was on 26 different medications. The side effects were taking an incredible toll, because by now, he can barely walk or get out of bed each day.

It's not my place to tell him he has to reduce the drug load....it's obvious that he is dying a slow medicated death...

As its not my place to tell pet owners that their lovely little family members are breaking down under the load of numerous medications and they are also dying a slow and complicated death.

It doesn't matter, animal or person.....too much of a good thing can be bad.

So where does that leave us?

We have to work at getting better. We must work on what we and our pets eat. We must view everything that we put in to our collective mouths as the opportunity to heal ourselves.

We must also find herbal remedies that can work in conjunction with our medications...because they can actually help to minimize the drug side effects, and may actually help to reduce the necessary western medications, which indeed are a great thing, but given in large quantities, and for long periods of times, will begin to back fire...

In other works herbs and meds can work together, so we don't have to choose...why does our society believe we have to do one or the other? I ponder so often about that.

I just wish people would be as tolerant when working with herbs as they are with western meds....

When people call me...

I have one single shot....and if my one single shot does not work...people become angry...

Even being called names is okay because you know what? I know I have a responsibility to these people who believe in this type of healing, and because the bar is set so high for me....I do a great job... because peoples high expectations are making me into the best herbalist I can be...

I love meeting expectations...every day I work to be the best there can be and I love when I hear the sweet sound of a pet owner telling me that the dog or cat they love is doing much better. It is like music to my ears....

Now it's your turn to work at getting better and time to open your mind....

Don't turn away from something that can work...

Have a little patience...

I promise we can make a difference (I'm writing this to the 10% out there that have no tolerance!).

Give herbs the chance that you have given the western medications...if you give equal time to the herbs, you will get the result you seek.

This is because in my humble opinion they are fantastic.....but take heed, I'm not saying they are a magic bullet....I think it's important for all of us to keep the following in our mind;

There are no wise men and there are no magic bullets......we must work at good health, we can not find it in a bottle or a pill...and that is the sad truth for our dogs and cats.

Baby Dumplin....

Dr. Pinky Pinkerton, the herbalist extraordinare (he is the handsome fellow sitting on the chair in the header)wants to strut his herbal stuff. Because once again the team has done it ....helped a dog that is coughing due to a weakened trachea, to stop coughing.

Dr. Pink wonders why people will sacrifice the health of a pet because the pet does not like something, although that something makes them better????

Bowser says Dr. Pink, if I was coughing and coughing, I would hope that my person would take the initiative and make sure I getting my herbs. Sure they don't taste great, but coughing all day long is much worse and could at the end of the day, kill me...BOWSER!

Don't people know that us canines look to people to help us?

Here is an e-mail from Betty, Baby Dumplin's person. Dr. Pink would like to pitch a pet peeve he has based on this e-mail....

Hello Holly, Just returned home from a trip . Baby Dumplin seems to be some better since using the formula. I will need to find another way to get her to take it as she doesn't like to eat the food that has it on it. Do you have any ideas ? Dumplin is 13 years old and as the old adage goes, " It's hard to teach an old dog. new tricks'! She has eaten the same food for years. She doesn't want to eat now, although, when she gets hungry enough, she will eat ! I have another younger dog and he wants to eat her food, with or without the formula. I have been away visiting my Family, so perhaps, now that I am home, I can get on a better routine. I feel I have wasted some of the formula as Dumplin didn't get all she needed. I sincerely feel she is not coughing or gagging as much, However, I will need to find another way to give it to her.

. My Daughter in N. C. gave one of her client's your email & phone number. You may have already heard from the lady. MY Daughter's Grooming shop is The Impeccable Pooch, in Banner Elk, N. C. Betty McCoy

A Pig Person

The other day Dr. Pink Pinkerton and I woke up to this nasty message;

Hello:

I ran into your site and was horrified to see someone catering TCVM over the internet that does not have a license! Your are not a licensed veterinarian are you? Your are not certified in TCVM are you? What are you doing on line selling herbs? Are you a licensed veterinarin in California with a Certification in TCVM???????????????????

I am downloading all of your pages and contacting the Oregon and california Veterinary medcial Boards about you practicing without a license!

Sincerely,
Patricia Jordan DVM,CVA,CTCVM & Herbology

Here is our response back to this nasty person;

Hi Patricia,
Can you please refer me to the law or the legislation where it states that you can not sell herbs on line? And aren't there about 1000 sites that sell herbs for pets on the Internet?
Why do you feel that I am doing something different than say a company called Pet Alive, or any of the other herb companies that are there when you do searches for things such as pet herbs etc.....?
I would appreciate the information.

Here is her response back to that message;

You are selling herbs for diagnosed conditions and therefore practicing veterinary medicine without a license. refer to the california veterinary medical practice act. By selling them over the internet, you are also practicing in any state that you send herbs that you are claiming will treat those dignoses! I will forward this information to the AVMA.

Sincerely,
Patricia Jordan DVM,CVA,CTCVM & Herbology

What a nasty person...those are the only words I can think of. And look at all of those spelling errors....do you really think that this is a doctor? I wonder if it just a nut case?

Anyway, I didn't get into the fact that I most likely had a zillion more hours of TCM study that she did...she is a certified TCM vet. What this means is that she takes about 120 hours of instruction, and then she thinks she is an expert.

"
The National Commission for the Certification
of Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine provides the course accepted by most
states. It comprises 1,725 hours (most veterinary programs offer less than one-
tenth of that). "

I have thousands of hours of TCM study, she does not....and I could never imagine surfing the net, and looking for people who do what I do, and then making it my mission to send them a nasty e-mail and do all the nasty things that she says she is going to do. Which by the way is fine with me....Go ahead lady...

What I think is sad, is that it makes it hard for pet owners to get good TCM for their pets because the Vets are trying to keep all TCM in their arena...weather they are qualified or not.

Its all about the money honey.

I am an acupuncturist...that means I can do it on humans...but get this; not on dogs or cats...

Why is this? Because the Vets have lobbied to keep this practice all to themselves. They take a seminar of 120 hours, and they call themselves a TCM practitioner.

What a crock of crap.

Since Dr. Pink Pinkerton and I want to eventually open up retail stores for affordable holistic pet care, we did some research about the regulatory considerations for complimentary alternative veterinary medicine (CAVM).

I paid for a study that was extremely interesting...for anyone who wants to read what pigs these veterinarians can be here is the link to the study

Regulatory Condiderations

The upshot of this 17 page document is this;
"Attempting to restrict the practice of every single conceivable modality to
veterinarians has the potential for making veterinarians look like bullies trying
to pick on the new kids in the neighborhood. Virtually anyone can provide
emotional support in times of crisis. Attempts to regulate such support would
seem to be futile—indeed, they might rather be viewed as shortsighted, as
they might induce conflict between the professional and client and force the
client to choose between a compassionate layperson and a veterinarian who is
perceived as having “poor bedside manner.”

NO KIDDING...what a friggin bully!

We Don't Understand...

Dr Pink and me (pawHealer) are a little irritated today.

Photobucket

Yesterday we posted about the sick dog that had Kidney disease. We are very familiar with this disease because our family member Sweet Orbit also has renal failure but we control it through food and herbs.

We received many messages from Micky's owner about his worsening condition and we have tried to help her figure out what is best for her Mickey because Micky is getting five shots a day of sodium/chloride, and something is not working.

Mickey is not eating and that is a very bad sign. The PawHealer team gave Phylis our opinion which is that since Mickey is getting worse, she needed to review Micky's current treatment plan because treatments are given to make a dog BETTER not worse.

We also gave her some links to review so that she could understand our concern, we could not find a treatment protocol that matched what her Mickey was receiving. And since we live our selfs with renal failure, and have never heard of this as a mainstream treatment, we feel it is worth questioning.

The team also recommended that she get a second opinion. There is a saying;

"There are no wise men"

What does she do next?

Phylsis cancels her order of herbs!

The one thing that Dr. Pink and the PawHealer know for sure that will help her dog and most especially it will help with the problems with his tender stomach.

There is a saying;

The definition of insanity is repeating the same action over and over and expecting to get a different result....
