What Chinese Herbal Formulas Can Do For Your Dog

Today I had a lady pretty much threaten me in every instance while trying to explain to her. She was convinced I did not know what i was doing, since there was not one word of psoriasis.

She was livid because a custom formula made for her dog's skin was made for the pattern of Blood Deficiency, a common pattern of Traditional Chinese medicine disharmony.

This woman was looking for something for "psoriasis", Chinese herbs do not correlate to  psoriasis, they don't do heart disease, they don't do cushing's, nor do they do arthritis. All of those are western diseases. Nowhere in the Chinese Materia Medica will anyone find any functions of herbs to cure western named diseases! Herbs are cataloged as heat clearing, damp draining, blood moving, qi moving etc. It takes years of study to work within this system.

And no way do I ever make the claim that Chinese herbal formulas cure diseases. I am proud to offer herbal formulas that nourish blood, move qi, warm yang, cool deficiency heat, move blood and on and on and on.

The fundamentals of life according to Chinese herbal theory is to work on within the paradigm of Yin and Yang, and can be further broken  down to Qi and Blood. It takes years to grasp these ideals, and they are not easy to explain to people who surf the net and want something to cure certain diseases, and want to understand a system that lay people can never understand.

Traditional Chinese medicine works by balancing Yin and Yang, the governing laws to achieve homeostasis. This is an organized system written in metaphors that is used to correlate the external world in which we live to the internal environment of the body. Chinese herbal theory does not consider the external separate from the internal, and the laws that govern nature also govern our internal body.

Unhappy Collapsed Trachea Customer...PawHealer Response

This is a post that was made by a Facebook user. I appreciate her feed back..however, I believe that people should have a broader view of both herbal and western medicine. If only serious diseases could have 100% cures, think about all the sick people and pets who would be better. The realities of life is that once disease exists, and of a serious nature, we can only hope to manage the diseases. Honestly, herbs and western medicine can do this. But every person and every dog is different. What also matters, are enviornmental factors such as diet, exercise, toxins. There is no magic bullet...but to say that herbal medicine does not work, is not right. Why do people have unrealistic expectations of herbs that they do not impose on western medications...sigh...as an herbalist, I can only shake my head...and be thankful of all the people that post and tell me that I have helped their dog..

Marlene C.....Her Facebook post
I just want all of out their to know that I was NOT happy with the herbs i got and wasted money on for little pom who suffers from a collapsed trachea, as they did NOT WORK so don't waste your money on the herbs for that condition, i even talked to the vet and i said the herbs are not working and she said they usually don't work on a collapsed trachea yet they sell this Empirical Lung support Phlegm Heat for it stating it helps this condition. Don't waste your money !!!!!!!!!!!! Surgery is the only thing that helps this condition ! They must write their own reviews for this product !!!!

Hi Marlene...first of all, herbs are herbs....i freely admit as an acupunturist for people and an herbalist for pets...that herbal remedies do not work 100% of the time...neither does westeern medications. I looked up your order, and I see that you did not fill out a pattern survey...we have formulas for all types of cough...things can effect the choice of formulas...such as problems with the heart...is it a phlegm-heat or a phlegm damp cough...what is your dog eating? In other words, the Phlegm Heat formula may not be the right one for your pom. I am sad that you feel that herbs have no place in healing, when in fact, that's just not the case. Many dogs with collapsed trachea have found a tremendous relief..I wish that we had remedies that could cure disease 100 percent...but that does not exist in life for pets or people. Vets are not licensed for herbal medicine, they hardly know what it is. I would also like to add that I have many dogs who have been on vet medicines and have no results at all either...Disease is tough, we have to manage the diseases with everything in a toolbox. This includes western meds and herbals...if you would like to try another formula based on a survey, I would be happy to work something out. Regards..Holly Mead (licensed acupuncturst/clinical herblist)

PS....we don not write our testomionals....nor do we fake all the photos that are put up. That's quite mean to say...also....here is what we write in our FAQ...Do Herbs Work? As a company who sells herbals we always get a little frustrated with this question. Of course they are effective, HOWEVER we can never be 100% sure of the results since every cat, dog and person is different and the degree of disease progression does impact the outcome. But without a doubt Chinese herbs have shown to be very beneficial for our pets.

NOT ALL MEDICINES WORK!...

For some reason we have lost our ability to be rational with respect to herbal remedies. As a company we wouldn't offer herbs that can't help, however it would be foolish to claim that they work 100% of the time, that's not logical right?

We can say that they really do help support a dogs health naturally. We could not stay in business if we did not have happy customers.

Unhappy Customer....Hates Return Policy

Pawhealer has a policy that we cannot accept open containers for return....we will accept all returns for non open containers...as a result it angers some customers...such as the following; this customer claims that the wheat grass made her dog sick...as you can see...no matter what we say...people will threat, curse...and brutalize us no matter our policy....

This customer is speaking about the nutritionals that she bought which was the Wheat Grass and PET GO product...Formulated by Dr Russel Swift DMV who is very well known and a big advocate of a natural canine diet ....Whole Foods...there are no medicines in this product...IT IS FOOD....

"i bought 3 products the treats in said liver not sure how much liver they are in but will send to a lab to find out my guess they are not in liver at all.. when i was told about the said treats the person said my dog would love them and could be used as a treat he didn't eat it like a treat he did eat it only after it was hidden in his food. My dog doesn't like treats that look and smell like medicine. I also bout the green powder. "

"not a threat just telling you what I plan to do. I will call the bbb tell my credit card company and start a blog let as many people i can about how sick your products made my dog and that you would not take the products back."

"you can put whatever you wish on your blog I will also start my own and make everyone on my yorkie page know what your products did to my dog. If a medicine makes my dog sick or he has a reaction to it my vet will take it back,, same with any reputable company, seems you are not one of them"

The green powder is Wheat Grass....The Liver is PET GO.....which is a concentration of all the glands and organs of the bovine....

"he is ok now thanks its def not the honey he even likes that. I gave him one of the treats and the green powder he threw up about 5 times and could not hold down water or food he became dehrdrated and needed to go to the vet for some fluids they kept him over night to monitor vet said he cant say it was the herbs for sure but most likely was from that since he got sick soon after and never had that problem before. Not sure the honey will help him without the other things but he surer does love it he has his own box of plastic throw away spoons and he licks it right off and is looking for more

thanks"

The Good Bad & The Ugly

I have to put the bad with the good...it is only fair to the readers....and I just have to comment on this customer's situation and her dissatisfaction

First thing that every ready should know....I post it, I write about it, I talk about it...I DEMAND IT!!! If a canine is depositing fatty lumps...in the majority of times, I can correlate it to a diet that is high in grains or a diet that is of low quality and high in bad fats...like Alpo...or some awful food like that.

Herbs are not magic bullets....IF lifestyle changes are not made...and I write about that extensively on the web page about Dissolve as well as send a full 3 page information packet....those lumps will come back...and the herbs will not have a chance.

In this case, the first thing that came into my mind is that the dog must be eating bad food. Sure enough, she informed me that her Dobie was eating ALPO.....that is the scourge of all dog foods...everyone knows that. It is a food that is cheap and of low quality...

How in the world can herbs...that are the same...fight against the root cause of what makes the fat lumps...BAD FOOD!

The customer says she has no control over what the dog is fed.....People.....the lumps are diet related. You must feed your dog a diet of good quality food...there are not short cuts...they are creatures like us.....who need good quality food...

How come we don't get it?

So let me repeat it again.....A good quality food....no grains rice wheat or barley. Keep your dog trim. No low quality chap foods. A diet of home made food is the best followed by higher end brands of dog food that are made for dogs without grains!!!

Hello there,
Just a quick commentary as promised regarding the progress of our Doberman's ("Apollo") fatty lumps.
Some time last year I ordered the 'Dissolve' formula but we were afraid to try it because of the issues surrounding Chinese imports. Apollo developed a horrific gasping cough, presumably due to one fatty lump on his chest. He'd already had 2 surgeries to remove such lumps but they kept multiplying and we decided no more surgeries.
Out of desperation, we tried your Dissolve and Resolve formula. His lump went from 4" wide and 2" thick to about the size of a golf ball...and his gasping completely disappeared.
Upon completion of that bottle, we ordered more formula; only to find out that your company made it "new and improved". Only one problem, we are blowing through that stuff like water and not only has the chest lump stopped getting smaller...it has grown - back to its original size. So not only have we spent 3x the money, but the formula doesn't work.
Needless to say, we are disappointed in the change and concerned for our precious dog's welfare. Looks like surgery will be the only option unless you reintroduce your old formula. Sorry to be the bearer of bad news, but we are stopping his dosing immediately, as we cannot understand why the lumps are growing back, some even bigger than the onset.
Please let us know if you decide to bring back the old formula. It worked fabulously and we'd told so many people about it. Now we have no choice but to tell them the "new & improved" is a waste of money and time.
Sincerely,
Patty A
and Apollo

Unhappy Customer; Dissatisfied With Return Policy

My answer to this customer's beef is that herbs are not all things to all people and dogs. We publish are return policy and it clearly states a 20% restocking fee for opened items.

I also have to wonder...why do people think herbs are any different than western medicine or foods? We all react differently to different substances...now if a dog is allergic to beef, does that mean all dogs are allergic to beef? Of course not, the vast majority of dogs can eat the beef.

Secondly, we work really hard here at PawHealer...and I don't understand why anyone would expect that we should give a full return for their pet's difficulty. A 20% restocking fee is extremely fair for a opened product.

Working with herbs is a two way street, I refuse to accept the total responsibility for the problems that a very few dogs may experience. I am happy to refund the product, with a 20% restocking fee if its open, since I have to throw it away.

Holly

I haven`t gone on the blog telling the very bad language i received, when i called for support, having a bad experience with your product, that was not my fault, neither one! so why am i going to pay a restocking charge? I can see if it was my fault i would have to pay but. the more people i talk to say it was not. I have bought i lot of things on line and never did i see if i was not at fault that i would have to pay a restocking fee. only the return postage. this is truly sad , I would think people would think twice about buying from you. why would you do that? It`s bad enogh they have to deal with their animal being sick.

Get Real People!

The other day I received not one but 2 requests from a woman that had a problem with her dog...collapsed trachea etc.... She spent 45 minutes discussing the herbs, ordering the herbs and then she had us OVERNIGHT air...all this is alot of work and energy. she had special circumstances and we formulated just for her dog....

Then, the next day I get two pertty insulting a messages that she wants to return them because her group has told her the PawHealer herbs cause side effects and don't work that well. Here is the first one...says that our products have reactions;

advice
Body: Hi Holly Now you won't like this. I spoke to a few people who used your products and had reactions. The problem was for trachea collapse. I feel very uncomfortable using them now. Can I please return them when I receive them?

Here is the second one now they don't work!

return information
Hi, I have not received my order as of today but I would like to request return information from you. I belong to a few support groups and they have used your products without positive results. I feel unsure of using your products now.

I was startled to receive such a message...

My thoughts are this;

1. Shouldn't you have consulted with this group BEFORE ordering? (if there is such a group that is giving us a bad name...)

2. Lets talk about side effects...hello....of course any herbs can cause side effects, each person and each dog are different...food can cause side effects! There is no one in the world that should say that herbs do not have the potential to cause an adverse reaction..HOWEVER in the very vast majority of pets that take herbal remedies this does not occur...AND IF IT DOES....within 6 hours of taking the herbs the symptoms will usually recede. This is the same for people...no different.

Hello people....if you are so afraid of side effect of herbs...then why in the hell do you medicate your dogs to the point of almost death? Don't you think that steroids, inhalers, narcotics to stop cough, multiple vaccinations, monthly flea control all are over dosing your pet?

This just about drives me nuts...How can people call me and discuss side effects when the very reason that they are calling me is usually from the side effects of multiple medications...OMG....Lord Help Me!

3. Lets talk about what works and what does not work...Once again there IS NO SURE THING!!!

But look at our blog...those are just a fraction of the people that have used our coughing formulas? So who are her people and who are these support groups? So she has people that say it didn't work...Well Lady I have people who say it work! geeze....how odd this whole thing was.

Hello people...how can you expect herbs to be any different than modern medicines? We do the best we can...we learn what works for the majority...however yes people sometimes it will not work...IF EVERYTHING Worked all the time we would live forever..

I can tell you this...herbs do have a great efficiency rate, but they are not a magic bullet....they take work and effort, they are more difficult to use than modern medicines...

But yes people in cases where modern medicine has not been able to help, herbs can be an adjunct to your current regime and work better! Or they can't help at all...Plain and simple...

My question is to you people..why do you expect so much more from herbal remedies than from what you get from modern medicine.

Lighten up....don't be afraid...its always worth a try....My suggestion for those who are fearful, use herbs in concert with your veterinarian. Explain to them that you would like to try herbals, and have them monitor your pet right along side with you.

Robin An Unhappy Customer

Robin contacted us form our local area because her dog was coughing really bad. We spoke to her and at that time we told her that I formula worked great. Which it does.

Unfortunately for her dog, it did not work.

We think it is because her dog has a heart murmur. We offered to give her a different formula based on that part of the puzzle...she refused.

She says that I scam people, she says I make false claims....she demanded her money back ( which I am gladly doing). She said I made her dog sicker and she says her vet has heard of these "false claims" etc.

She says that I only give kuddos to myself...well here is her side. She hated our herbs.

So for those that are reading my blog....here is Robin's story.

I really wished she had taken me up on her offer to try a different approach to that horrible cough, because its not about me, it's about her dog.

Unhappy Non-Customer

This person never bought herbs from Pawhealer. But she is unhappy with us and wants to let others know it.

So I thought I would do it for her. She believes that we are only interested in selling herbs, which of course is not true. There is very little money to be made selling herbs for pets online. We do this because we love to help animals and its that simple. She also does not believe that I have a dog with renal disease. Anyone how reads my blogs knows about Sweet Orbit and his journey of living with Kidney disease...Yes I do have a dog, I have four of them!

But we feel it is important that we give this pet owner a chance to say what she thinks of us.

She is entitled to her opinion, so I will post it for her;

Holly, Want to let you know I would like you to take Mickeys and mined blogspot off your website. Because I didn't like your answer to what you was saying about Mickey and I and about me canceling your herbs. I feel that you are progressing Mickey condition wrong with the public. And I feel you had no business telling about my business of if it was wrong or not of my caring of Mickey. I feel I have been doing all I can to help my baby Mickey and I am still doing it. And any how, how do I know for sure that your herbs would help Mickey any? If the blogspot about Mickey and I am not off your websie by the end of the day the public will hear my side of it and the truth. I have the right to tell you to remove the wesite. I see now all you are worried about is selling your herbs and you are not going to use us to do it. I did like the website you had about us at first, but didn't like how you address the of the second one you address about us. Like I said if the website isn't off by the end of today Feb.19, 2008, I will take what ever actions I can about this matter. And let the public know it was all about your herbs and not about the caring of Mickey.
Your co operation in this matter is greatly appreicated.

Phyllis
