Jeff's Progress...Thursday April 17th

Dr. Pink and I (the handsome fellow in the header) received this update about Jeff today. (read about Jeff) Yesterday we had increased his dosage of Zhen Wu Tang to a full scoop in the morning and at the night. It had an impact...Or should we say, a depact?

Because Jeff has diarrhea, we are asking that he stop the herbs until things harden back up and then we start again, with a reduced amount.

Jeff has a huge amount of accumulation around the middle, his girth is at whopping 28 inches. This is from the ascities due to congestive heart failure. It is our treatment goal to reduce this so that Jeff can breath easier.

Here is Colleen's daily report to the PawHealer team;

Good morning Holly & Dr. Pink,

I switched the Z remedy to 1 full scoop last evening. Jeff only had cooked turkey throughout the day, and a couple of baby-food meat stix (like little hot dogs, but without the fillers, etc.) as a treat for taking his remedies.

Around 10:30 last night he was just settling in and I gave him some water. He lapped it right up, and completely, but then got down from the bed and asked to go outside. He immediately puked up the water, had diarrhea and peed before coming back in. He woke up in the night to go outside to pee and had diarrhea each time. He started around midnight, then again at approximately 2:30, and 4:00, approximately. Then he slept right through until around 7:30, when I took him out again, and he just peed.

When I gave him his morning remedy (W), he "escaped" to the back bedroom to hide from me. (I can just hear him in my head, 'you'll never catch me for the next dose!')

He also had a bout of diarrhea in the back of the house (inside) while we were out earlier, around dinnertime, which I know was really tough for him because he never, never goes in the house. I had given him the increased (Z) remedy about 20 minutes before we had to leave. I regret that we did not wait to do this until after our return, but we were going to be gone until around 9 pm.

My concerns (beyond his hopeful improvement) also relate to our varying schedules. I don't want to limit the amount of times I can give him the two remedies because of the fact that no one will be home to let him out if he has to go. I'm doing my best to keep it as regular as possible, but we have missed a dose or two. I've gotten the hang of the dropper and keep it as calm and swift as I can, given his resistance. Between my husband, son and me, we are able to keep an eye on him most of the day and night, but there are periods of time when no one can be there for a few hours.

Girth measurement remains at 28" today.

I am currently keeping an eye on his water intake and his desire to drink water. I think I am seeing a decreased volume overall, but I'll have to watch a little longer to be sure.

Meet Jeff....Working to Improve His Heart

Dr. Pink Pinkerton and I received a request from Jeff's person Colleen. Poor Jeff has congestive heart failure and it's causing Jeff to have ascities, which is water retention withing the abdomen.

Ascites is excess fluid in the space between the tissues lining the abdomen and abdominal organs (the peritoneal cavity).

Colleen (Jeff's person) whats Jeff to be more comfortable because he has been miserable. The main symptom of course is the very hard and rounded stomach due to this water accumulation.

The other symptom that Colleen wanted to address is that Jeff constantly has to pee. Also he has no stamina and gets tired very easily.

Dr. Pink Pinkerton, the herbalist extraordinarie, where very happy to work with Colleen and Jeff.

Our Traditional Chinese Medicine diagnosis is Heart , Kidney and Spleen Yang vacuity with water flooding pattern.

This called for the treatment principle to fortify the Spleen and warm the Kidneys, free the flow of Yang and disinhibit water.

We used the formulas Zhen Wu Tang (True Warrior Decoction ) and Wu Ling San in order to accomplish these goal.

Coleen is wonderful about giving the Dr. Pink Pinkerton and The Pawhealer updates, we will continue to post them as we receive them.

Max The Cat.....No More Loose Stools

Dr. Pink Pinkerton, although he is a dog, does want all of his patients to have a happy herbal outcome.

So none the less, although Max the cat is indeed a cat, Dr. Pink and I checked in on Max to see how his loose still situation was going.

Happy to report that Max has now solid stools...

Good Job Max The Cat!

Hi Holly,

I got your message, not sure why your email to me bounced. Maxx is doing well and the powder has very much helped "solidify" things. I'm happy to have it handy because this happens to him whenever he gets stressed, and he's the nervous sort.

Thanks for checking in!

Sheryl

Mugsy In MA......

Dr. Pink Pinkerton, herbalist extraordinare would like to introduce Mugsy, here is his story....Of course the team will be updating this post as we learn of his progress.

Hi Holly,

I received your product today thanks for shipping so quickly.

Suggestion, let people know that the little spoon is 1gram. I assumed but others might not know that.

Attached is a picture of Mugsey, he is 15 lbs and 12 years young. I was told two years ago that he had a heart murmur and a partially collapsed trachea only because I brought him to the vet for another problem. I gave him one gram tonight and will give to him three times daily for the next few days as instructed. Hint: I melted some cheese in the microwave and mixed the powder in the softened cheese, he gobbled it up. At least that way I was sure he took the whole dose.

I will keep you updated on his progress thanks again for your quick response,,, good luck on your finals.

Lisa

Mugsy is from Massachusetts....Meet the cuty pie Mugsy,

Introducing Mssss. Daisy

Dr. Pink Pinkerton and I were informed the very first time I spoke to Daisy's person, that she was a very famous dog, she had been on TV....

Ms. Daisy has a cough, not sure if it is a Collapsed Trachea cough, but none the less, it has been a problem.

She is doing MUCH better;

Dr. Pink Pinkerton and I are amazed at her beauty and we are so happy she is feeling better.

Daisy had a very goodnight, it was the first in weeks. I am doing one and one half grams four times a day. One dose every six hours. The heavy coughing has shortened and less severe. She can go hours with no problems. If it continues I will go with four hours.
Thanks

I just reread this, try it every four hours. We want to really get at that heat!

Hi,
Daisy is still having problems but we feel the more she takes the medicine the less hacking. I have found that giving her one gram mixed with honey every six hours works best. When she has a breating attack it lasts only a few minutes.
I think she has control over hacking for food. Everytime David or I go into the kitchen Daisy follows with an attack. Daisy also is able to go hours without any problem but once she gets nervious or physical she starts hacking. If I shout at her to go lay down she is able to stop. I feel she has control of her problem but using it for attention.
If it continues until Wednesday, I will call the vet for an x-ray.
Thank You and I will keep you up to date.
Carl

Update on Snoop Dog's Wheezing

I did my follow up today with Snoop Dog...he has a pretty heavy wheezing formula and Dr. Pink Pinkerton and I wanted to know how Snoop was doing.

Deanna says Snoop Dog is doing better, but the herbs are upsetting his stomach.

Dr. Pink and I wrote back to Deanna that Snoop Dog needs to get on a formula to now treat the root problem of the wheezing, because he no longer in an acute situation.

They are taking him off the Cortisone and the herbs have helped him do this.

But now its time to put him on tonics to deal with the root problem.

I hope Deanna follows through with this, because the wheezing herbs are bitter and cold...it's probably really giving him a stomach ache.

Now he can breath, but I'm sure he has a stomach ache and I've heard he farts alot...Oh no!

Hi Holly,
He seems to be doing pretty good!
The only thing it seems to upset his stomach a little as I'm having a little trouble getting him to eat the food w/ the powder mixed.
Other than that I'm seeing positive results!

Thanks!
