Lola developed a lipoma (fatty tumor) in her armpit about a year ago. The vet said it was harmless, and not to worry. A few months ago, it started growing rapidly, to the point where it began to interfere with her mobility. Our regular vet referred us to a veterinary surgeon, who said that it would cost $5,000 to remove, would require a 6 week recovery period during which she would have to be kept strictly confined, and that the surgery could lead to complications including paralysis or even death.
