Help for Big Dogs that Cough!

Thanks to Andrea T. for sharing Buddy's experience with PawHealer products. Many old dogs cough. Chinese herbal medicine explains this as a failure of yang to transform yin...yang failing to transform substance, thus arises turbid yin...also  known as phlegm.

"My 14 year old border collie/Australian Shepard, Buddy would cough all night and it wore him out and he wouldn't be as playful the next day but since finding paw healer and trying their products he now sleeps pretty much thru the night and plays like a puppy the next day. I recommend paw healer to all my friends"

We have a multitude of cough products..the one that Buddy took was the:

Special Dissolve for Beautiful Pita.....15 years old

Thanks Joyce...this story warmed my heart...and made me a little sad as well.

"Thank you all for what you do. My name is Pita and I have had a large lump in my throat for a long time now. The doctors say it can not be removed because it will kill me. My Mom started me on holistic medicine when we found out what i had. Although the doctors still can't tell me exactly what it is but we figured it's related to thyroid or goiter. Since we have been using holistic medicine my Mom and doctors believe that is why I'm still alive today. Just recently the lump stated to spread and i have lost a lot of weight the doctors think it's cancer. So my Mom called paw healer and talked to the nice folk's there and they told us what to try. So far I'm still alive and doing ok. I'm 15 and a Irish wolfhound. I still am enjoying what is left of my life because my Mom and i believe that paw healer has prolonged my life. So don't ever give up on your babies because Paw Healer is here to help."

This is such a great story. Chinese herbs do work great for any kind of nodule especially goiters. I received this note at the end of December. I hope Pita is still doing well, but Janice has the right idea. Many people think if we are old...that its not worth doing anything to support the quality of life...when in fact, the herbal remedies help smooth the journey and the transition of life.

Suffering is not a mandatory condition for a dog to age. You can make a difference in their well being. Especially the older big dogs who need support for their hind legs. Once again thanks to Joyce for trusting the final days of Pita to us...

Ripley..Believe it or not...Found a natural bladder stone remedy...

Thanks for Kayla H for sharing Ripley's experience......

"Ripley has done so much better since being on UFF. He was having accidents all the time in the house. Took him to the vet and he had crystals in his urine from his urine being too alkaline. We had to get his urine to be more acidic. He hasn't been having accidents now for a while. It took about a month until he was doing really well?.

Another Bladder Stone Story...Herbs for dogs that work!

Thanks to Amanda D. for sharing Jakes story

Just started the supplements and they seem to really be helping immensely. Especially the Urinary Free the Flow, our dog no longer seems to be in any pain, i.e. crying when you touch his tummy/bladder area and so far no painful (crying) to get out fast and urinate. :)

We receive countless stories very similar as this. First let me say this....if at any time a dog with stones stops peeing, you must immediately take your dog to the vet...I always advise people and this is...good food, good herbs and a great vet...make for a winning health outcome...

Jake, like so many of our happy customers was given Urinary Free the Flow.....

Does your dog have Liver Issues? Consider PawHealer's Liver Support formula for Paw-Healing.

Thanks to Ruth H. for sharing her thanks...she came to us with this issue"

"PawHealer's products have kept my 13 year old Lhaso Apso in the condition of a much younger dog. I have s new puppy and Saki chases her with the energy of a young dog. This could not happen without the amazing products I have been using from PawHealer. I have started giving PawHealer products to the puppy to give her a longer more productive life as she is in trying to become a therapy dog. I especially love the personalization of products if you need something specific. I have left messages and have received a phone call back within a day. I appreciate the quick response and the ability to receive personalized products."

This is the issue that Ruth wanted to address:

"Saki has sign of Cushing's disease. She has had a STIM test and ultra sound. her blood work is askew, but she doesn't have Cushing's yet. Her vet said she could take herbal remedies that are for the liver. Do you have anything like this. The liver is slightly enlarged."

So we suggested our Liver Tonic for Saki...here is the image of the product and the link:

Frankie's Trachea Cough...Doing so much better..

Thanks to Anmarie M. for sharing this cute picture of Frankie taking a taste of Hound Honey Syrup for dogs that cough!

"We contacted Paw Healers to inquire about herbal treatment for our pom(Frankie). Frankie is a 10 yr old pom, and was rescued from a puppy mill in Missouri , then boarded a plane for New York, then from there he made it to his home in Ct. Frankie suffers from trachea collapse. He was getting so bad he wasn't sleeping through the night and either were we.The last thing we wanted is to give him a whole bunch of strong medications, and watch him sleep the rest of his life away. So when we contacted Paw Healers we were so surprise to get a phone call from them. The gentleman named Mark called and he was so knowledgeable and directed us what treatments he suggested for Frankie. Before Hanging up he said that if we ever needed him to just call anytime. This Blew me away, he wasn't even sure if I was going to buy their product and here he was truly concerned and dedicated to helping us. So we brought the suggested products and as soon as we received them we started to use them, and to our astonishment Frankie's cough started to subside. He still coughs now and then, and we have talked with mark and are doing a combo with another herbal product and looking forward to giving Frankie many more years with us with the help from Paw Healers. We would have been totally devastated over Frankie's health if it were not for Paw Healers and I would recommend their product to others and will recommend their products to our vet. THANK YOU PAW HEALERS.""

Trinket is Shinning Again!...Bladder Stones Gone!

Thanks to Judith...who at first was very afraid for her baby Trinket. As of yesterday, Judith tell's me that this beautiful little dog is doing great...she has rid herself of 1/2 the bladder stones..this was confirmed by her vet.

From: JUDITH T
Date: Wed, March 11, 2015 5:43 pm
To: PawHealer's Chinese Herbs <info@pawhealer.com>

Dear Holly and Mark,
The following is my testimonial regarding my dog, Trinket, and our journey from September 22, 2014, to now.)

Some time around the middle of September, 2014, during a routine inspection of my dog's private parts, I found a tiny "bead" in her Vulva, such as might be found in the stuffing of a beanbag chair. I didn't think much of it, thinking she might have sat on something while we were out walking.

In the next week or two, I noticed that when she would get excited, she would accidentally urinate. Again, I wasn't overly concerned, until I saw that when we were out walking, she would stop and squat every few feet, and only manage to get a few drops out. Now I was concerned.

I did some online research and suspected that she definitely had a UTI, but on having discovered two more of those little "beads," one in her Vulva, and one in the carpet, I suspected that she might also have Bladder Stones.

I took her to the Vet, and it was confirmed that she had a raging UTI (poor baby) and she had Struvite Bladder Stones.

The protocol that the Vet prescribed was Prescription "food" to dissolve the stones, and a course of antibiotics that had to be taken the entire time that we would be waiting for the stones to dissolve. Possibly over 8 weeks! Right there, the Red Flag went up. I've never heard of anyone taking antibiotics for over two months!

I went home with a case of canned "food" and a prescription for Amoxicillin that I had serious doubts about.

Needless to say, my dog would have nothing to do with the food, and the antibiotics were making her very sick to her tummy. After 3 days of not eating at all, I tearfully went back online, to see if I could find an alternative method of dissolving the stones, and that led me to Paw Healers.
Holly, at Paw Healers recommended a course of treatment to include Chinese Herbs for dissolution of stones, and supplements to accompany them.

I myself researched and devised a diet of organic chicken and that, some organic pumpkin for fiber, salmon oil for omega 3 and 6, along with the Chinese Herbal supplements, got us started on a Protocol that the dog would tolerate, even enjoy, and I could feel comfortable with. (The canned "food" was a list of chemicals that I couldn't even pronounce, and smelled AWFUL)

With the addition of a broth that I make from Chicken gizzards and RO water, this diet is what Trinket has been eating since September 25th, 2014. Since I eat mostly a Vegetarian diet, and only Organic, I feed her some of the vegetables I eat as well, and give her "treats" of a product that's a Kidney support wafer that I break into pieces and give her throughout the day. (Also from Paw Healers)

I switched  my vet, to one that is much more understanding and not so rigid, as well. He agreed to let me try to dissolve the stones on my own, and didn't insist that she have surgery immediately. In fact, he suggested that we give the diet at least 3 months to work, and that I could stop the antibiotics.

It's been a long, sometimes bumpy road, but as of her last checkup, two of her four (previously seen on x-ray films) stones are gone! And my dog is healthy once more. I am thrilled.

The Herbalist, Holly, and her assistant, Mark, have guided me through this journey, all the while emphasizing that, if needed, I take her to the Vet. (Not needed, except for checkups)

They also encouraged me when I was really, really scared! I must emphasize that they never tried to coerce me into abandoning the Vet, but rather, they wanted always to make sure we were all on the same page, as far as Trinket's health an well-being came first.

Most of us have grown up using Western medicine as our model, and to switch to all herbs and trust that they will work, was a big, scary step for me. I'm glad I took that leap. My dog has not had to have surgery, and I trust in the future, that she will remain healthy, thanks to Chinese Herbs.

I will forever be grateful to Paw Healers and Dr. Bill Dean, DVM, for helping me to help my dog.
Judith Tiedemann

Senior Dogs...Nothing Better than Herbs to Support the Heart.....

Thanks to Kimberly Fields: I love this testimonial. Who wouldn't? They are so warming to the heart...

"We have 2 beautiful 15 year old pups that we love very much. They have grown up with our kids and I know that when our kids are ready to begin their new lives, so will our little guys. For now though, thanks to you, we are enjoying every day to the fullest with them. 6 months ago our white dog Snoopy was diagnosed with heart failure and a collapsed trachea. His health was deteriorating quickly and I honestly thought we were loosing him. All the vet could offer was synthetic drugs and 4-6 months. Broken hearted I began to pray and search. I just wasn't ready to give up yet and neither was he. I was led to your website, talked to Mark to determine what we needed and ordered the products. We had nothing to loose but our fur baby. Snoopy began to improve immediately . That was 6 month ago. We decided to keep him on the enalipril on a very low dose, but took him off everything else He is doing really well. He is still able to walk a 1/2 a mile a day and has a great quality of life. Each day with him is a gift to us. I am convinced that without your help he would not have been here to celebrate another Christmas with us. Thank you Paw Healer. Life is such a gift!"

Dog Lipoma? Read about Randy...A happy, handsome lipoma free boy!

Thanks to Mercedes Pedrick for sharing Danny's Story...Gosh what a cute photo!

Danny my families yellow lab suffered with Lipomas for a years and had 8 of them surgically removed over a 2 or 3 year period. As he got older we preferred not to go thru that surgery process over and over, so I searched for another alternative and I found "Dissolve" from Paw Healer.com. I also go to an acupuncturist and showed her the herbal mix when she confirmed the use was to melt or dissolve fat, so I gave it a try. 5 years later we are very happy with the results, Danny has no more Lipomas and is a happy boy at age 11.

Danny has been a regular user of DISSOLVE for lumps and bumps...Here is the bottle image and the link to review this formula:

Old Dogs Don't Cough No More.....

Hi Holly,
These are my two 16 1/2 year old Peek-a-Poo Sisters, Ling (left) and Ally. Ling is the one who I order the Hound Honey for. The formula seems to be working as her honking and coughing has gone down to a minimum. Recently, I also added the lung support powder and the combination of the two has done well for Ling. If you don't want to go the drug route and prefer something natural for your older pet, then try these products!

Herbal Remedy for Dog Dental Problems....Extinguish the Fire Formula

My little man of 16 1/2 yrs old had a rough start in life. When he came to us from the "kennel" where he was a breeding machine at age 6 he lost 35 teeth the next day. The remaining 7 teeth were obviously not sparkling white. We've done our best to care for them and he loves to bite the toothbrush & lick it right out of the tube when it's not even his turn yet but despite our efforts he only has 2 remaining. They are discolored and ugly. This past year the gums are red and I'm unable to even brush them, I have to use my finger to apply the toothpaste and other prescribed oral gel. I'm afraid of it becoming infected and the risk of him going under at his age. Earlier this year it was getting greenish and filmy. I started giving him the "Extinguish the Fire" twice a day with his meals (in capsules) and not only is the tooth holding its own...it's not filmy anymore! I truly believe this is helping him and I'm online now to order more. And yes, I've had it checked by a doctor too. Thank you...once again, PawHealer.

Thanks to Amy for sending this story..Amy was one of my very first customers years ago. I have watched per great little doxies grow into mature citizens. Amy does a great job of helping her dogs with natural support as well as good medical care...

Extinguish the Fire formula is full of bitter and cold herbs that clear stomach heat...we say "fire flares upward"...

What is fire? fire in internal heat that is generated from internal factors or external invasions.....this formula has a anti-bacterial type of patho-mechanism....

Our dog people have lots of success using it for all types of canine dental issues...

Dog Hacking Cough? Read about Audry and maybe we can help your dog!

Thanks to Rhonda Chase for an update on Audry

"Audrey is a 14 year old jack russell. She is a rescue from a puppy farm and I adore her. She has been developing a hacking cough that worsened this last year. After a couple of different prognosis from different vets and couple of months on western meds, she was only getting worse. I finally decided I would look for some herbs on line and found PawHealer. While I do not expect that she will be cured, she is feeling much better and except late night and early morning, her coughing is much improved! Thanks PawHealer"

Rhonda contacted us via our Yin Yang Survey...and here is how she described the chief compliant:

There is not a day that doesn't go by that I don't think about all the various patterns of coughing that I see each and every day from hundreds of people when describing their dog's cough.. When I read her pattern description...there are many thoughts that go through my mind....

Adoption and rescue...i think of the wounded heart spirit...when heart qi is weak, the heart will not be nourished...hacking cough is dryness...dryness can be a result of blood not flowing properly...then I read "collapsed trachea"

That is a western diagnosis, however from my perspective it represents lung heat and sticky phlegm...

Thankfully, in most instances the Lung Qi Support for Phlegm Heat seems to help the majority of coughing dogs. However, that is for the more excess cough. To help with the enduring cough that Rhonda describes, we will need to do a formula for Heart Yang vacuity...

Good Bye Sweet Gator...A Seperation of Yin and Yang

In Memory of Gator

"Oh Holly. I miss him so much. My balance is off. He had the love and positive effect on me. My yin-yang. I feel empty and sad. Thank you for thinking of me".

They say that death is actually the separation of yin and yang...

I think Michele is experiencing that sensation of separateness because of the unexpected passing of her beloved Gator.

Yin and Yang are mutually transforming, one cannot exist without the other.

While Michele will go on with her life, she hold a spot in her heart, which is a special space where Gator's spirit lives on, and that  will be forever.

Good bye Sweet Gator....

Dog Fatty Lumps? Read about Limo...no more lipomas

Thanks for Monda for sharing Limo's Dissolve experience.

"Have been using Dissolve for five months. Limo has much more energy and can now jump upon the couch again. The little lumps are gone. The big one has moved down and back. Do give this product a try as we have seen good things. We recommend capsules - they are easier."

Notice she kept Limo on the Dissolve for a long period of time. I have many people who want to use one bottle and expect a magic bullet. Its not. There is work that goes with ridding a dog of lipomas. Diet is the first requirement. If your dog is overweight, get those pounds off. Lipomas are an excess yin substance. The body is not transforming all the food, thus the accumulation of phlegm/damp nodules known as Lipomas.

Unfortunately not every dog will respond to the lipoma aspect of the formula. However there are many side benefits. We invigorate the blood, which in most instances will enhance the dog's mobility. Those lumps and bumps obstruct the channels. So the herbs are helping move qi and blood which is always a good thing.

Dog Bladder Stone Help...Big Boy Corbin Feels Great!

Coben my 8 year old Great Dane was urinating blood and the vet wanted to do a x-ray, possibly surgery for bladder stones. I contacted Paw Healer right away and they came up with the combination for correcting his crystals in the urine. In about 2 to 3 months Coben was free from the heat and pain and no longer urinating blood. Thank you for all your help! I've also tried some other herbs for Coben from Paw Healer and he does well with all!

Thanks for Pepper sharing Corben's story. Corben has a tendency towards damp-heat. It affects his bladder and ears..and Pepper stays on top of that problem by using herbs to clear heat.

Corben used Urinary Free the Flow for Blood/Stasis Heat....and happily he is a happy peeing dog!!!

Canine Cataracts? Consider PawHealer.com to Nourish the Eyes..Read Betty Spagetti's Experience.

Betty Spaghetti's Story
Herbs for a Pug's Eyes!

"We adopted Betty Spaghetti, an elderly pug, from a shelter in October of 2012. She'd obviously not been well cared for and among other physical problems her eyes were in bad shape. She had dry eye (KCS) which had been left untreated. She was almost blind with clouding in both eyes and severe scarring on one. I began giving her the Round Corneal Nebula (herbal formula) right away along with daily moisturizing drops. I think that Betty's vision has actually improved slightly. The miracle is that her vision didn't continue to worsen. I'm very grateful to Paw Healer for that. Betty lives the good life now."

Thanks to Karin for her kind words and her story about Betty and how she is working to perserve Betty's eyesight.  I made a link so anybody interested can go look at the formulas. We have many different blends, they are not all on the website...

Collapsed Trachea Natural Remedy...Nicki the American Eskimo Knows it Helps....

Thanks to Cindy B for sharing Niki's picture and story of ccollapsedtrachea, here it is:

Nikki, my American Eskimo was diagnosed with Tracheal Collapse last year. I found Paw Healer on the computer, and ordered the product. Since using this my baby now sleeps all night without coughing, panting, jumping on and off the bed, and having to get water. We all sleep better now.

Pawhealer.com has been working with dogs diagnosed with a collasped trachea for many years now. From a TCM perspective this is a disease of phlegm and the heat which binds to that turbidity.

I don't think of a "collaspsed trachea"..when i design herbal formulas for dogs that chronically cough, i think about how to get rid of the damp/phlegm. In most instances it will be a formula to clear phlegm-heat in the lungs. However there are many many different patterns that can be assigned to dogs that have been diagnosed with a collapsed trachea.

Like I always tell people. There are no magic bullets..good food, good herbs, exercise, weight control and a great vet..create a synergistic effect. Its hard work, but worth it.

Lung Qi Support for Phlegm-Heat.

Bladder Stone Relief for Princess...Read how well she is doing ..A great healing Story

Thank you Judith K for sharing your story with us. Princess has been a long term customer...she is now using STONEZYME for maintenance to prevent those nasty bladder stones.

In 2012 my four year old Pomeranian, Princess, was having a lot of trouble. She would go outside about 10 to 20 times a day trying to relieve herself and try for minutes at a time. This went on for quite some time, and then she started to bleed when she would try to go. I took her to the vet and she was diagnosed with bladder stones and the operations to remove them was $1,200.00 (plus more if extra work was needed). I left the doctor's office in tears as this was a difficult time for us financially, so it made it all that much more difficult. We would have tried to come up with the money somehow, but I came home and did a search and found Paw Healers and starting reading the testimonies. I found a few that matched Princess' symptoms. I called and spoke to Brad and he advised me what to order. I received the Urinary Free Flow and within three weeks her symptoms started to diminish and over the next couple of months all the symptoms were gone. I kept her on this regiment and called Brad again and he switched her over to StoneZyme. She will be on these herbs for the rest of her life. Anytime I have questions, they are always there to help. I have one happy, healthy Princess and I am one happy mama!

Dog Heart Cough? Read about Max the chihuahua...16 years young.

Many thanks to Ann for sharing Max's story...Max is 16 years old and Ann W. has exactly the right idea..she understands that it is all about finding remedies and medicines that work to create a good quality of life. ...Read her story:

3 years ago Max a chiuahuah mix had an acute cough which then we found him in pulmonary edema ( I think because of the codine medicine the er vet put him on). That vet also said that Max has a tear in the corde tendeae which is a tendon that holds the valve to the heart muscle. He gave Max 4 months to live. Strangely that same time he went completely deaf. Well, Max is still here and feeling good! I had tried the other Pawhealer cough syrups but it wasn't until I tried this one that his cough has become softer and not as frequent and finally we are all sleeping better! I haven't given him vaccinations, but instead he gets a rabies titer which always shows he is protected and he gets his tag. Grain free organic diet home cooked and filtered water! He is on some meds from the vet but it is the herbs that have made the biggest difference in his quality of health! By the way Max will turn 18 in Sept this year!

Dog Heartworms..Gary's Great Story

Thanks to Gary for this great story....Gary...what a great person you must be. Most people would not take in a dog like this...

In May of 2013 I was driving home from work and saw this skinny brown dog in the middle of the road. He had been hit by a car and was dragging his left leg and his head was covered in blood. He is a tall dog but was so bony. I felt so sorry for him that I stopped and loaded him up in my car. He was in pain but he still wagged his tail and was so friendly. I took him to my vet and he said the head injury was minor and the leg was not broken but he had stage five heartworms. The vet thought he would die. But I would not give up on this sweat heart of a dog. I searched the internet for herbs and found the website for PawHealers. I sent and message and also called. I was so worried about him. He only weighed 54 pounds and he is a tall dog. He was having trouble breathing and was full of fluid. He was so weak we hand fed him and made him drink water. We set up with him all the time. Mark and several at PawHealers would stay on the phone with me as we talked about herbs and treatments for our baby. Finally he started gaining weight and his eyes were clearing up. He started moving more and was sleeping better. We had a very rough year with him. Almost lost him a few times. But you guys were always there with me on the phone with ideas to get him through this. I took him to the vet this past May, we have had him one year now. The vet was amazed and said it is a miracle. He is heartworm free and has no kidney or liver damage. But he does have an enlarged heart and breathing trouble. With Mark's help we will get him through this too. The vet said we need to get some weight off of him now he 100 pound baby. We call him Baby Huey. The vet wrote everything down we have done and is in love with our big old mute. We would not part with him for the world. He is beautiful. Thank you guys so much with all your help support and phone calls. Hope you got his picture I sent.

Coughing dog? Does it sound dry? Consider trying Chinese herbals formulas based on cough patterns...

This is about Dulce's dry coughing:

DULCE; THE PRETTY GIRL

"She had a terrible rough dry hacking cough during day and night. I started her on this product after having given her a Zinc throat spray, Cepacol and 2 vet prescribed meds. Everything helped to easy the cough but not eliminate it until I started giving her Lung Qi Support: Kidney Yang Deficiency twice a day. Now she doesn't cough and she is also happier and more active."

Thanks to Patricia M for sharing her story about Dulce.

Dulce's cough is a symptom of a more complex set of symptoms...in other words,  her cough is just a part of the Chinese herbal  pattern.

The base formula is  very famous and it's called Shen Qi Wan which I modify to help with the rebellious lung qi.

This formula has a multitude of applications and it is used as a base for many imbalances such as incontinence, weak hind legs and hips, deafness, fatigue...

You see,  it warms yang..the ministerial fire that is housed in the lower burner.  Yang is qi, and qi  is loosely translated to "breaths"..thus if the kidney qi/yang is weak;  the kidneys will fail to grasp the lung qi..thus the dog or person will cough and wheeze...

As I always like to caution people. There are no magic bullets. Good food, good herbs, and a good vet..all work to help manage chronic conditions of all sorts. It takes work, and an understanding that when deficiency sets in, most of the time it will never be as good as before the disease onset. HOWEVER, it's about managing the symptoms, and slowing down the progression or worsening of the problem. Don't ever give up working to find the key that works for your dog....

And some people are really fortunate, it does help 100%, but that's not always the case. The best thing you can do for a coughing dog is to ensure there is a fresh diet!
